About Us

It all started because…

…we love high school and collegiate athletics.

Period.

As voracious consumers of these sports, we decided to look for teams and players we would like to follow.

A chance meeting with a parent led to more conversations, and subsequently, funding.

High Schoolers

We have selected a few high schools for this initial campaign, and a few players as well.

As these players transition into colleges, we will follow them, and celebrate them.

Collegian

Our current sole collegian is Jayden McDonald, of Troy University, Alabama.

He has been redshirted this year, but we will keep updating his progress.

Publisher

Kyle Reasoner is Publisher of Blackgrounder, the website, and the newsletter.

He is also editor of The Interlocutor.

Editor

Dee McBaller – not her real name – veteran Detroit sports personality and Rossford native, is Editor-in-Chief of Blackgrounder.

Recently retired, and back in the Toledo Metro area, Dee will be at all St. John’s Jesuit Freshman Gold and Varsity games where she will bring us news and her insights and opinions.

(She has a nexus to SJJ that we are not divulging here.)

Videos and photographs

We are crowdsourcing images and videos from parents and friends.

An SJJ parent has offered us his videos, and we hope to get videos from Central Catholic, Cardinal Stritch, and Maumee Valley parents as well.
